Asset filtering, selections, and browsing

Explorer has two modes: standard tree browsing mode and search result mode. You are in search result mode if you select Edit > Find, and then choose to have the results displayed in Explorer. In this mode, the matching assets are listed as a table, not as a tree.

Asset filtering

Asset filters support searching on AIS mount folders. For example, you can enter /clients/DEF Company/Quotes in the Asset Path box and select Go.

You can filter the items displayed in Explorer based on a wildcard pattern and choose the column according to which you want to filter assets. To do so, select the appropriate column, enter the text according to which you want to filter results, and then select Apply. The search is case-sensitive and any rows that contain this text are returned as results. For example, if you select Size in the Column list and enter 2 KB in the Filter box, the search will return all rows that contain 2 KB (it might return 12 KB, 2 KB, and 232 KB, but not 20 KB).

The filter supports wildcards (*). For example, the *.html filter will return all files with that end in .html. The filter a*.txt will return all files whose names begin with the letter a and end with the .txt extension. After you select Apply, the filter is applied to the list of assets displayed, and the name of the button changes to Clear. Select Clear to remove the previously set filter and view all the assets in the selected folder.

Selections

Of the options on the Explorer context menu, Remember Selection is unique. When you right-click an asset and select Remember Selection, the Current Selection pane is displayed on the right side of the window, listing the remembered asset. Once Explorer remembers an asset and lists it in the Current Selection pane, any action you perform applies to the remembered assets, not on any other assets selected in Explorer.

Use Remember Selection when you want to perform actions on two or more assets that are in different folders. When you are done working with those assets, select them in the Current Selection pane, right-click them, and then select Remove.

Browsing

Use the left side of the Explorer window to navigate and the right side to select assets and folders.

You can navigate to a specific asset path either by expanding the structure in the left pane or by entering the path in the Asset Path box and selecting Go. You also can apply a filter to the assets displayed in Explorer.

After you have selected assets or folders, select the appropriate option for the action you want to carry out from the Explorer menu. Make sure not to delete any client folders.
