Changing the due date or expected duration of tasks

When you change the due date of a task, you can choose to notify the assignees about this change. By doing so, you can make sure that they prioritize their work properly and deliver it on time.

Procedure

  1. Go to Assignments > Projects: <name>, click the name of the appropriate project, and then select the tasks whose due date you want to change.
  2. Select More Options > Task Options > Change Due Date.
  3. In the Change Task and Step Due Dates dialog box, select Set Expected Duration or Set Due Date, and then enter the expected duration of the tasks or task steps (in days or hours) or their due dates (by clicking the calendar icon).
Tip: You can set the expected duration or the due date for the tasks themselves or for each task step.
  4. Choose whether or not you want assignees to receive automatic email notifications.
By default, assignees receive an automatic email notification after you change one or more due dates. If you do not want them to receive automatic email notifications, clear the Send email to assignees check box.
Important: For email notifications to be delivered, ask your WorldServer administrator to make sure that:
    • The assignees have valid email addresses.
    • Notification delivery (Management > Administration > Notification Delivery) is configured properly on your environment.
    • The notification engine is enabled on your environment (notification_engine=on in the general.properties file).

Administrators can also change the content of the automatic email notification by going to Management > Administration > Notification Content and selecting Task Due Date Changed or Task Step Due Date Changed in the Notification Type list.

  5. Click OK.
