Adding workflows

Adding a workflow consists of adding steps and transitions. Configure each step after you add it.

About this task

The new Workflow Editor has a limitation on the number of characters you can enter in text boxes. Thus, you can enter a maximum of 255 characters in small text boxes and 1024 characters in large text boxes. WorldServer will truncate longer values.

Procedure

  1. In WorldServer, go to Management > Workflow > Workflows.
  2. Select Add.
  3. In the Workflow Editor, insert steps and place them in the workflow. You can insert multiple types of steps:

Note: To insert a sub-workflow step, you need to have other workflows defined on your environment.
  4. Connect the steps through transitions.
Tip: Make sure that you create transitions between all the appropriate steps, including Start and Finish.
  5. Configure each step in your workflow:
    • In the new Workflow Editor, you can configure a step by selecting it, and then specifying the appropriate information in the properties pane.
    • In the old Workflow Editor, you can configure a step by double-clicking it, and then specifying the appropriate information in the properties dialog box.
Note: Assign human steps and the Auto Error step to the appropriate users or workflow roles. In the new Workflow Editor, you can assign a step to a maximum of 240 individual users. If you need to assign it to more than 240 users, include the users in a workflow role and assign the step to that workflow role.

Also, the name that you enter when configuring the Start step will be the name of your workflow.

  6. Select Save or Save as.
